I get told many times by prospective clients that TEAMS is not cheap. They are generally the clients who are used to paying around a $1,000 for a single user database to help them manage say 100 odd students.Our TEAMS product starts from $2,500 for the lite edition. Of course, we are no match for a cheap $1,000 product :-) and yet, its the same clients who said TEAMS was expensive that I find...

It's the very same clients that said they couldn't afford TEAMS that come back and purchase our product about a year or two later. By this time, their college has had growth or issues (sometimes both) and they feel they have outgrown the software they purchased. Sometimes they are frustrated by lack of support or service or timely fixes.   The initial purchase price of around $1,000 is long forgotten but the pain of software that doesn't quite work and support that isn't there is very real. What about the cost of staff spent on trying to get the cheap software working? What about frustration of staff that are unable to call or get timely support? Plus the cost of in-efficient software that is difficult to use and even harder to fully implment?

Some other providers (who shall remain nameless) choose a different route. They charge very little up-front, but every time you want more users you pay, every time you want updates or upgrades you pay, everytime you want anything done you pay!! Pretty soon the costs add up and are quite comparable (sometimes a lot more) than what we charge.

We are not a $1,000 software. We never will be. We have no intention of being in that market. Quite simply because I don't believe it is in the best interest of our clients by charging them a low entry point and then charging them everytime they want to add a new user, or limit them to certain # of enrolments or charging them extra for training and implementation help.

In the long run, we have much higher retention rates (more than 95% of our clients are still with us and using TEAMS happily) than our competitors.
